Always Start With Why.

Cheers to a new year.

To new beginnings.

To connection.

I have started off this first month of the year with some intimate reflection. Asking myself the question:

What do I want this year to bring?

The more I learn about life, the more I understand that we have the power to create the life we want to live by being intentional.

And I realize this is great for Chic Made Consciously. The more I connect with intention to why I am building this company, the more purposeful I feel, and the more others will be able to connect with that story as well.

I am learning a lot about connecting to my purpose, from Simon Sinek, who wrote a book called Start With Why. It seems to fitting to have started off this year in my first book club ever (actually, it’s a business book club), and reading this powerful book.

He shares many examples of businesses that start with WHAT they do and then HOW they do it but fail to connect to their WHY.

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy WHY you do it.”

Well then,

Let me be open in sharing my WHY.

“We believe in operating business from a place of fairness and sustainability for all. We believe in helping people connect to the real story behind the label. By engaging in healthy, fair trade relationships and keeping the planet in mind, we create accessories that are well made and timeless.”

I care deeply about creating a positive impact on this planet and for people all over the world. So, it has helped immensely to clarify why I am on this mission, why I am creating these thoughtful accessory collections, why I was led on this journey…..clarification helps everything. It makes it easier to communicate to those around you, and to remember why every day matters.

Have you tried clarifying your WHY?

Why not try it.

Start with “I believe….” and finish the sentence.

As I mentioned, I believe life is about being intentional, so the more clear we get with anything in life, the more you will receive what you are looking for.

Feel free to share any thoughts, feedback or comments...or even your own WHY!

Oh, and here’s Simon Sinek's TED Talk for you for a sneak peak of what his book discusses.
