On March 30, I left Pennsylvania to go to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to a yoga convention. While I was there. I saw this booth named, Chic Made Consciously, at the Yoga trade show. I was immediately, attracted to its simple lay out, with these beautiful black brackets, necklaces, purses, belts, hats, and body wear. I am attracted to and were a lot of black. As an artist, I was curious about where the material came from that the work was created of. Cassandra, the owner of the booth, informed me that the material was recycled tires.
Wow. I thought! She then told me, that they were produced by an artist in Bali, from the designs she created. She showed me the artist photograph, working in his outdoor studio in Bali
Now, I was really fascinated. I have always wanted to go to Bali, for over more than 30 years. Cassandra and I chatted about her many visits to Bali. How beautiful it is, and how her business was started. She told me Chic Made Consciously “spreads the message of slow fashion by offering accessories that are designed to last. We support local workers in Bali in order to preserve their culture of art and craftsmanship, while also promoting ethical production and fair wages”, she said. “We use a material that is repurposed to help preserve our planet, too.” I loved her, her story, and her designs. So I had to buy one. I bought a bracelet pictured here. I wear it just about everywhere. Whenever, I wear it, people comment on it, and I tell them Cassandra’s story.
I plan to buy another piece soon to add to my collection. Thank You Cassandra for creating beautiful fashion designs from repurposing tires, while helping another wonderful country, Bali and helping to preserve our planet too.
